On Wednesday 24th April, members of the East Midlands and West Midlands Industrial Agents Society took part in their annual Golf Day, competing for the coveted ‘Golden Tri Cup’. This was the events 3rd year and goes from strength to strength with even more agents in attendance, and the result the closest in its recent history.
The two regions regularly work together across the wider Midlands area and the event gives members and sponsors the opportunity to catch up and build relationships with one another. This year’s event was again sponsored and participated in by developers St Modwen Logistics and Logicor.
The region’s take turn to play at ‘home’ and this year it was the West’s turn to host at Forest of Arden near Coventry. 6 pairs matches were played, with 4 additional non playing agents supporting, meaning we had 28 attendees over the course of the day. And in the closest result to date, 4 matches went all the way down the 18th hole before being decided, with the final outcome a draw – 3 matches a piece. Unfortunately for the East Midlands, possession is key and with the West Midlands winning last years event it means a draw is good enough for them to ‘retain’ the cup.
That was not the only drama of the day however, with Sean Bremner representing the East, achieving the first hole in 1 that the event has seen. And not just on any hole – the closest to the pin hole!
As well as the golf, the event includes dinner and drinks and helps to raise money for the societies chosen charities.
Tom Drake of Drake & Partners (Chairman of the East Midlands IAS) confirmed: “Another superb day and we are delighted this has really cemented itself as an annual event. We hope the event continues to grow again next year and of course, the East Midlands will be pulling out all the stops to try and get the trophy back. Thank you again to our sponsors, without whom the event could not take place. It has been fantastic to receive such positive feedback from so many about the day”.
John Sambrooks of Garrison Real Estate (Chairman of the West Midlands IAS) said: “The event continues to go from strength to strength and I’m delighted the West Midlands team kept the trophy for another year with a thrilling finish! We look forward to next year’s match and hopefully it’s our turn for a hole in one!!!”
