Nicholas Roberts

Partner

Nicholas has over 30 years’ experience. He started his career at Berrys and then Countrywide before joining the original Drake Commercial which later became Bidwells where he was Head of Business Space Agency in their Northampton office. After Drake Commercial were reformed, Nicholas re-joined in 2010 and is one of the original Partners.

Nicholas is a specialist in the industrial, office and business space sectors. He also has extensive experience in investment and development work and advises a range of both private and institutional clients. He is involved in a number of substantial developments including the 650 acre mixed use urban extension of Wellingborough known at Stanton Cross.

David Smith

Partner

David has over 40 years experience in the commercial property market. David has held senior roles at Connell Wilson, Lambert Smith Hampton (Head of Office), the original Drake Commercial and Bidwells, before setting up his own development companies. Following a spell with Lambert Smith Hampton, David joined the reformed Drake & Partners in 2015.

David acts on a range of General Consultancy work but his primary focus includes Investment, Development, Lease Advisory and Valuation work. He is a Chartered Surveyor (Fellow) and a Registered Valuer. David is also a member of the Industrial Agents Society.

Tom Drake

BSc Hons FRICS

Partner

Tom has over 15 years experience working in commercial property. He started his career at Ladbrokes, specialising in Agency and Landlord & Tenant work on the companies UK wide property portfolio. He then moved into General Practice working for southern M25 firm Altus Maxwell Brown, specialising in office and industrial agency, before returning to his home town of Northampton in 2014.

Tom focusses on all areas of General Practice work, but his key specialisms include Agency, Lease Advisory and Acquisition projects. He is a Chartered Surveyor and a Registered Valuer. Tom is Chairman of the East Midlands branch of the Industrial Agents Society, a member of the Office Agents Society and Vice-Captain of the RICS Hockey Club.

Joe Smith

Partner

Joe has nearly 15 years experience within the commercial property market. He began his career at Bidwells before subsequently moving on to BNP Paribas in Birmingham, where he worked in the Rating team. In 2011, Joe moved back to Northampton to join Lambert Smith Hampton where he spent 4 years specialising in industrial agency. Joe moved to Drake & Partners in 2015 and is now one of the Partners in the team.

Joe specialises in industrial and office Agency, Lease Advisory and Rating work. He also advises a number of occupier clients on their commercial property strategies. Joe is a Chartered Surveyor and a member of the Industrial Agents Society, where he sits on the Committee for the East Midlands branch.

Jonny Grove

Partner

Jonny has 20 years experience working in construction and building surveying. He started his career at Prestige Developments where he specialised in modular construction. In 2011 he moved to CS2 where he specialised in all aspects of building surveying work and held the positions of Director and Head of Marketing & Business Development for the group. Jonny moved to Drake & Partners in 2022 where he now heads up the Building Surveying Consultancy team.

Jonny is a specialist in all aspects of Building Surveying and Project Management roles, including Dilapidations, Due Diligence, Contract Administration, Party Wall & Neighbourly matters, Procurement and Expert Witness. He acts for a range of institutional, private and occupier clients. Jonny is a Chartered Surveyor and previously held the role of Deputy Chair of the Leicestershire and Northamptonshire RICS Matrix. He has also represented the RICS Cricket Club.

Gary Viccars

Director

Gary has 20 years experience working within the commercial property and building surveying industry. Gary moved into surveying after a career change in 2004, joining Drew Pearce where he specialised on a number of both residential and commercial projects as designer, contract administrator and CDM Coordinator for the Local Authority, NHS Trust and Local Housing Authorities. In 2006 he moved to CS2 where he specialised in all aspects of building surveying work and reached the position of Director. Gary joined Drake & Partners as a Director in 2023.

Gary is a specialist in various aspects of Building Surveying roles including Landlord & Tenant matters, Dilapidations, Contract Administration and Project Management. He acts for a range of institutional, private and landlord and tenant clients. Gary is a RICS accredited Chartered Surveyor.

Tony Drake

FRICS

Consultant

Tony has over 50 years experience, acting in senior roles with Connell Wilson, Lambert Smith Hampton, the original Drake Commercial and Bidwells. After reforming Drake & Partners in 2008, Tony is one of the original Partners of the team and his track record speaks for itself. A winner of the RICS Award for ‘Service Above and Beyond the Call of Duty‘ and the IAS Award for Best Deal in Excess of 50,000 sq ft. He has also acted as an Ambassador for Northamptonshire.

Tony now acts as a consultant, specialising in the industrial and business space sectors, with a focus on Agency, Lease Advisory, Valuations and General Consultancy work. He is a Chartered Surveyor (Fellow) and a Registered Valuer. Tony is also a member of the Industrial Agents Society.

Alan Edge

MRICS

Consultant

Alan has over 20 years’ experience working in the commercial property and surveying industry. Alan was formerly at CS2 who he joined in 2001, where he specialised in contract administration and construction project management, for a range of institutional and fund management clients. Alan was an Equity Director at CS2 and headed up several of their regional offices including Milton Keynes, London and Northampton.

Alan has now linked up with his former colleagues at Drake & Partners and acts as a consultant for our Building Surveying and Construction team. He specialises in a range of areas including project management, dilapidations and general building surveying consultancy work. Alan is a RICS accredited Chartered Surveyor.

Ollie Holliday

Apprentice Surveyor

Ollie is an Apprentice Surveyor. He joined in 2024 having completed a Level 3 BTEC at Northampton School for Boys where he captained their rugby side and also represented Northampton Saints Academy. He is completing his Surveying Apprenticeship to become and Associate member of the RICS.

Ollie supports the Agency and Building Surveying teams in various aspects of work, including Lettings, Sales, Landlord & Tenant and Building Consultancy.

Helen Green

Office Manager

Helen joined Drake & Partners in 2022. She has a wealth of administration and PA experience, having previously worked in similar roles at the likes of Oakfield, Grant Thornton and Lambert Smith Hampton.

Helen is our Office Manager and is responsible for the day to day running of our head office. She often acts as the first point of contact for our clients, applicants and wider contacts. Helen is vastly experienced in administration, accounts and management work and provides valuable assistance to the Partners on a range of matters.
